I have always wondered what pasta best describes me. I found out just a few minutes ago when I took the Carrabba's Pasta Personality Quiz. It is easy, just five questions and then you find out what Carrabbas' pasta best describes me. I am the Tag Pic Pac otherwise known as the Tagliarini Pasta with Picchi Pacchiu Sauce. I can tell you right now that I have no idea what it tastes like, but I am certainly going to be heading over to Carrabbas' soon to find out.
This talk of pasta got me thinking of the favorite pasta dishes that I make, but not often enough. I have one that is really good in the spring and early summer, Bowtie Pasta with Spring Peas, Proscuitto and Pesto Cream Sauce. I have to be honest upfront that the measurements are estimates as it depends on who is home to eat the dinner as some love peas and some do not. Nonetheless, this is an easy recipe that can be made quickly. You will need bowtie pasta, proscuitto, peas, cream cheese, pesto, milk, salt and pepper.
Cook bowtie pasta according to package directions. While the pasta is cooking, chop the proscuitto into small pieces. We usually have a 1/2 strip of proscuitto per person served. Fresh peas are best for this recipe. I usually add 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of fresh peas into a bowl with the chopped proscuitto. In a smaller bowl, add 4 ounces of cream cheese and a cup of pesto and place in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take out and stir. Place back into the microwave for another 30 seconds and remove to stir until well mixed. Add a dash of milk, salt and pepper to taste to the pesto mixture. Mix into the peas and proscuitto bowl. Drain bowtie past and add to the other ingredients. Stir well but be careful not to over stir as you do not want to smash the peas. Shave Parmesan cheese over top and serve. A fresh salad and garlic bread go wonderful with this easy and oh so delicious pasta dish.
Now, I do not know the grams of fat, carbs and all that, but all I can say it is a great pasta dish and certainly with the fresh peas it has to be healthy.
I think I am going to have to run to the grocery store and gather up all these ingredients and make some tonight for dinner. My belly is growling while I am writing this post and my mouth is starting to drool. Check out the Carrabbas' Pasta Personality Quiz soon to see how you match up with pasta and maybe get a few great ideas of what to have for dinner tonight.
